Printing with PEEK polymer can be challenging, as it requires high temperatures to melt and print. PEEK can be printed at a maximum temperature of around 482°F (250°C) and a minimum extrusion temperature of around 356°F (180°C). The high temperatures required to print PEEK can be challenging for many 3D printers, which may not be able to reach or sustain these temperatures. PEEK also tends to produce a lot of fumes and smoke when printed, so appropriate ventilation is needed. Additionally, PEEK is a difficult material to print with due to its high strength, high stiffness, and high chemical resistance. These properties make it challenging to print with a consistent layer thickness, which can result in a poor surface finish.
